Ottawa – Let's Go Outside Contest OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

1. There are two ways to enter the "Ottawa – Let's Go Outside" contest:
   1. Enter Online at www.ottawatourism.ca/roots, by clicking the "Submit" button. Enter all required information and you will automatically qualify for a chance to win.
   2. Enter at one of the 90 participating Roots Stores (excluding Roots 73 stores) by filling out an in-store ballot and placing it in the ballot box. Entries must include all mandatory fields to qualify.

   The contest commences January 11, 2012 at 08:00 AM EDT and to be eligible, entries must be received by February 14, 2012 at 11:59 PM EDT, the contest closing date. Only one entry allowed per person, per valid e-mail address. No purchase necessary.

2. There be will one (1) grand prize awarded, consisting of a trip for two (2) to the Ottawa-Gatineau region
   Prize trip includes:
   • Two (2) round trip economy class flights to Ottawa, ON from the closest international airport to the Winner's residence. In the event the Winner resides less than three hundred (300) kilometres from Ottawa, ON the prize will not include air travel to Ottawa, ON. Where the Winner lives less than three hundred (300) kilometres from Ottawa, ON the Prize will substitute the cost of airfare with a first class VIA Rail tickets for two (2) to Ottawa, ON from the VIA rail station closest to the finalist's residence.
   • Three (3) night's accommodation at Fairmont Chateau Laurier
   • Two (2) $500.00 Roots gift certificates. Valid at any Roots or Roots 73 store in Canada, excluding roots.com.
   • Two (2) sets of Roots hats and scarves
   • Dinner for two at Le Cordon Bleu Bistro @ Signatures Restaurant valued at $150.00
   • Admission for two (2) to the National Gallery of Canada special exhibitions and permanent collection
   • Admission for two (2) to the Canadian Museum of Civilization
   • Two (2) bike rentals at Rent-A-Bike Ottawa*
   • Two (2) day car rental
   • Afternoon trip with RiverRun Rafting on a High-Adventure Raft Trip for two (2) including lunch, followed by; *
   • One (1) night stay at London House Inn & Spa in a Luxury Suite complete with private pool and hot tub, breakfast included.*

   The approximate retail value of prize package is $5,000. Value will vary depending on location of Winner's residence and airfare fluctuations.

    

   *Seasonal operations. Only available if travelling during operational period. Additional detail will be provided upon winner selection.

3. A random draw will be made in Ottawa, (ON) on March 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM EDT, from among all eligible entries (both online entries and in-store ballots) received on or before the contest closing date of February 14, 2012. Winner will be contacted by phone and/or email set out on the entry form. At least three attempts will be made to connect with the Winner on different days. If the selected entrant cannot be reached by March 21, 2012 or if, for any reason, the prize cannot be awarded, another contest entry will be randomly drawn and given one week (7 days) to claim the prize and so on, until the prize has been awarded. In order to win, the finalist must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question over the phone without mechanical aid. The odds of being selected will depend upon the total number of eligible entries received.

   The cost of travel by the Winner and any companion to and from the Winner's and companion's residences and the point of departure is solely the responsibility of the Winner. All expenses other than those specifically referred to above, including but not limited to meals, beverages, gratuities, ground transportation, travel and health insurance, excess baggage fees, transport and/or airport fees, taxes, communications charges, and all other incidentals are the responsibility of the Winner and their companion.

   Not all dates will be available for travel. No changes will be permitted to travel dates or passenger names once the travel portion of prize has been booked. Ottawa Tourism reserves the right to designate all transportation particulars and routes.

4. To enter and be eligible to win, an entrant must be a resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority in the entrant's province or territory of residence on or before February 14, 2012 and who is not an employee of or domiciled with an employee of Ottawa Tourism, Capital Tickets, Roots Canada Ltd. and/or their respective agencies, affiliated companies or the independent contest organization ("Contest Sponsors"). All entries become the property of Ottawa Tourism who assumes no responsibility for contest irregularities including printing or typographical errors, lost, delayed, destroyed or misdirected entries or for any software malfunctions of any kind or unavailable network, failed or incorrect communications caused by the sender or the equipment or programming. By entering, entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and the decisions of theContest Sponsors which are final. By entering, the winner agrees to authorize Ottawa Tourism and Roots Canada Ltd. to announce and publish their name and address (city only) in any forthcoming publicity, without remuneration should Ottawa Tourism or Roots Canada Ltd. decide to do so. The Winner and their companion are also responsible for all travel documents, including any other expenses not indicated in the prize. Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable or convertible to cash.
5. Litigation from Québec residents respecting the conduct or organization of this publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of the prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement. Contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws.
6. Ottawa Tourism and Roots Canada Ltd. reserve the right to substitute the prize with a prize of equal or greater value. Ottawa Tourism reserves the right to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time, for any reason whatsoever. Trip must be taken by December 30, 2012. Rent-a-Bike and RiverRun Rafting are seasonal operations. Should winners choose to travel outside of operation dates prize inclusions are forfeited and will not be substituted or converted to cash.

*TERMS AND CONDITIONS*

Contest is open to Canadian residents only. Maximum two (2) adults per grand prize awarded. Prize must be claimed on or by March 21, 2012. This prize cannot be converted into cash, exchanged nor transferred to a third party. Trip must be taken by December 31, 2012. Ottawa Tourism is not responsible for additional meals, transfers or taxes associated with prize trip.

Two (2) weeks notice required to make travel arrangements.

Ottawa Tourism or Roots Canada Ltd. are not responsible or liable to any party, including the Winner and their companion, for any event that occurs while involved in or participating in any of the activities included in the Prize, including but not limited to transportation to and from Ottawa, accommodation in Ottawa and any activities entered into by the entrant and companion while in Ottawa/Gatineau.

Personal expenses are not included.
