Ski season will soon be underway in Ontario
Canada Travel Tips | Donnerstag, den 27. Oktober 2011 um 15:09 Uhr

Travellers looking to hit the slopes need look no further than Ontario, as this scenic region of Canada has some wonderful opportunities for skiing and other snowsports. There are dozens of resorts and mountains to choose from throughout the province, and many of the locales can be enjoyed by skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels.
Located only a few kilometres outside of Toronto is a great place for couples who would like to try skiing for the first time or families looking to have little ones take a lesson or two. Ski Lakeridge is a fantastic place to visit year-round, but in the winter, this mountain turns into a great ski destination, offering more than 20 trails on 70 acres of slope space. Guests may also have fun in the snow tubing area, or try out some snow mountain biking on the designated trails.
Another great mountain to check out that lies a few hours' north of Ottawa and Toronto is the Laurentian Ski Hill. Snowboarders may especially like this location, as it has a thrilling terrain park that is one of the best in the region. Travellers can practice their tricks and skills on rails and snow jumps.
Those who enjoy skiing but prefer to enjoy the sport at a more relaxing incline may consider a cross-country skiing getaway. Gatineau Park, which is located a short distance outside Canada's capital city of Ottawa, boasts many kilometres of trails that are waiting to be explored by travellers. The park's website says the pathways offer cross-country skiers more trails than almost any other locale in North America, plus they host wonderful opportunities to enjoy the area's scenic countryside.
In Gatineau Park, there are more than 200 kilometres of snowy paths to choose from when seeing the natural beauty of this area, including green pine tree forests and snow-capped peaks. Each of the paths offer various levels of difficulty and facilities available to skiers who have purchased passes to travel through the park.
Tourists who are fans of cross-country skiing or who wish to try the activity for the first time may want to make plans to journey to Gatineau Park this winter, as it boasts ideal conditions for the avid winter traveller.
