Start the New Year right at the Great Canadian Chill
Ottawa Travel Guide | Dienstag, den 15. November 2011 um 18:24 Uhr

Ottawa offers a number of exciting and challenging physical activities for travellers to enjoy. This winter is no exception, as January will see a number of local and international athletes testing their mettle in the cold winter waters at the Great Canadian Chill.
The event is a massive polar bear dip that invites hundreds of revelers to plunge into the frigid waters off the coast of Britannia Beach in Ottawa, both to challenge themselves and raise awareness for a good cause. The event is a fundraiser for a national pediatric cancer research initiative and the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, with participants raising more than $20,000 at the 2011 event.
Even if vacationers can't bring themselves to swim, the event will feature a number of attractions that will be fun for the whole family, including live music, games, a costume contest and prizes.
This will mark the event's fourth year in the Ottawa area, though organizers run the fundraiser in Toronto each year as well.
The Great Canadian Chill will invite visitors to stay cool and take the plunge on January 1
