Check out Ottawa's Maple Syrup Festival this spring

Ottawa Travel Guide | Mittwoch, den 08. Februar 2012 um 16:24 Uhr

Locals throughout the Ottawa region are looking forward to the prime maple harvest season (usually sometime in March) and welcome visitors to also participate in the festivities. Those planning to travel through Canada should not miss the Maple Sugar Festival hosted by the Vanier Museopark. This could be the ideal event to experience with loved one while enjoying a vacation in Canada's capital city.

A museopark encompasses the ideas from both a nature reserve and a museum, both of which share unique perspectives about this area's rich, Francophone past. Visitors can check out the exhibits and activities at any time of year, which could include things like seeing the display of First Nation artefacts or strolling along the trails that are marked by informative checkpoints.

During the Maple Sugar Festival, there are plenty of places to explore and learn more about this interesting sweet source. Families will want to attend the brunch at the Knights of Columbus Hall, which is slated to be one of the highlights of the eight-day event. Guests are encouraged to drizzle their homemade, all-you-can-eat pancakes with some of the freshest and tastiest maple syrup around. Little ones may also sample some maple syrup taffy on the snow if the weather permits. There are more things to do for children at the museopark as well. Event organisers will be offering sleigh rides, face painting and storytelling.

At the Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre, couples can leave the kids at home and have their own maple fun at the special dinner with guest singer and performer Marisol. She will be playing some of her most popular songs like "Angel or Demon" that have earned the songstress a large following in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.

Anyone who loves sweet treats and will be in the region during maple harvest time will have a blast taking part in all of the thrilling things to do during this season.
