Peace – The ExhibitionCanadian War Museum
Peace at War
The Canadian War Museum has declared Peace–The Exhibition, its leading attraction of 2013. Over 300 unique and authentic artifacts, including an iconic blue beret from the first United Nations peacekeeping mission, have been assembled to illustrate how making and keeping the peace has always been part of the Canada’s military heritage. Each object in the exhibition tells a different story of peace, whether the clock of a Hiroshima survivor who emigrated to Canada and became a lifelong campaigner against nuclear weapons or the Victoria Cross awarded to a Canadian stretcher-bearer for his lifesaving heroics during the First World War. Special programming lets you take a closer look at the many works of art included in the exhibition and encourages you to compose your own thoughts about peace to share with others. Peace–The Exhibition continues at the Canadian War Museum through January 5, 2014. Admission can be included with a number of Ottawa Tourism Getaway Packages, including Get to Know Your Canada.
