Upcoming Ottawa Festivals and Events
With the arrival of warmer weather each spring, Ottawa becomes home to a multitude of exciting outdoor festivals. From thousands of beautiful tulips in bloom, to an array of outdoor music performances, this city has a celebration to cater to every taste all spring and early summer long!
The best part is that most of these festivals take place in Ottawa’s scenic downtown core and are within walking distance of downtown hotels.
Ottawa Busker Festival
Visit the Sparks Street Village August 1 – 4, 2014 for the Ottawa Busker Festival and experience this very unorthodox entertainment by street performers from around the world. From clowns to jugglers, acrobats and magic tricks... you name it, they have it all! The festival offers free admission but donations to the performers are appreciated.
Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light
Recognized as one of the top 100 events in North America by the American Bus Association, the Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light lets you experience fireworks as you never have before during its five unforgettable international pyromusical (fireworks synchronized to an original soundtrack) evenings, each Wednesday and Saturday between August 2 and 16, 2014. Note the new location, over the Ottawa River behind the Canadian Museum of History, and new (lower) admission prices!
National Capital Craft Beer Week
From August 15 to 24, 2014, celebrate 200 years of brewing heritage in Canada’s capital region, with this 10-day festival, launched by a 3-day outdoor craft beer and artisanal culinary festival August 15 – 17 outside Ottawa City Hall. The National Capital Craft Beer Week then offers beer and food pairing dinners, brewmasters’ receptions, and more opportunities to learn about, sample, appreciate, and enjoy craft beer at its best!
Live on stage!
From July 24 to August 7, 2014, expose your mind and soul to the extraordinary sounds of the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival. The largest chamber music festival in the world, Ottawa Chamberfest presents more than 100 performances from renowned artists at incredible venues across downtown Ottawa. The festival endeavours to satiate fans of this form of classical music, as well as create inclusive atmospheres to introduce the style to new listeners during its two weeks. The festival’s all-encompassing approach is uncommon, making Chamberfest a welcomed rarity.
Ottawa Folk Festival
From September 10 to 14, 2014, stimulate your senses with the unique and eclectic sounds of the Ottawa Folk Festival. Set amidst the natural beauty of Hog’s Back Park just south of downtown Ottawa and along the Rideau Canal / Rideau River system, the Ottawa Folk Festival is a five-day celebration of music, dance, visual arts and community featuring an eclectic mix of musical performances on two evening and five daytime stages, plus participatory music workshops, special children’s and family performances, beer gardens, artisan and craft vendors, and more!
