More EventsHappy Hallowe'en Things that go bump in the night!
Each fall, Hallowe’en season is celebrated in spooky ways throughout the Ottawa region. For families, a visit to Saunders Farm in the rural countryside has become an annual tradition for the past 20 years. Young children can burn off excess energy by exploring huge hedge mazes and enjoying fun entertainment while older kids will delight in the thrills of a haunted hayride!
The Haunted Walk gives tours steeped in Ottawa’s scary past throughout the year but they really pull out the stops in October. One of the spookiest takes visitors to the Ottawa Jail Hostel, which served as a prison until 1972. Canada’s last public hanging (1869) was held at this location and Death Row on the top floor is part of the tour.
New this year, Haunted Walk created an event with the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum, a chilling enough attraction since it was built to withstand a nuclear blast. Visitors are whisked back in time to a fictional outbreak at the bunker which leads to a zombie attack! October 20 and 27, and November 3, 2013.
