Travel writing award Enter the 2014 contest!
Every year, dozens of talented travel writers visit Ottawa and share their experiences through a variety of media, including newspaper articles, magazine features, blogs and other online media. Ottawa Tourism offers a $500 CAD prize for the best example each year, judged by Peter Johansen, a former professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at Ottawa’s Carleton University.
Congratulations to Karan Smith, who was named the winner of the 2013 Ottawa Tourism Travel Writing Award. Karan’s winning entry was called Canadian War Museum a moving reminder and it appeared on November 11, 2013 on vacay.ca.
Commemorative plaques were shared with runners-up Josephine Matyas of Kingston for her piece on the Rideau Canal in the Toronto Sun and Vanessa Huet of Montréal who wrote about Ottawa’s culinary scene in La Métropole.
The 2014 award is open to any article (in English or French) that is published between January 1 and December 31. The deadline to submit is February 6, 2015 and full submission details can be found on Ottawa Tourism’s website.
