Ottawa 2017

Year of sports 2014 brings football, soccer, basketball

Year of sports

Three new professional sports teams come to Ottawa in 2014. Technically, one arrived in 2013: the Ottawa SkyHawks, who play in the new National Basketball League, started their inaugural season last November. They play at the Canadian Tire Centre.

In spring 2014, the Ottawa Fury FC join the North American Soccer League, playing its spring schedule at Carleton University and its summer/fall schedule at Lansdowne Park.

And in July 2014, the much-anticipated Ottawa REDBLACKS join the Canadian Football League in a revamped stadium at Lansdowne Park.

Of course, we’d love to predict that the Ottawa Senators will bring the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup to Canada’s capital in the spring of 2014, but some things are out of our hands!
