Check out Ottawa's Currency Museum
Ottawa Travel Guide | Friday, 30 September 2011 17:14

Through December 9th, an interesting exhibit at Ottawa's Currency Museum will showcase fakes and forgeries of money throughout history. Guests are encouraged to examine the coins and bills on display to see and they can guess with pieces are real and which are falsified. More than 100 objects are featured in this interactive exhibit that can teach travellers about trickery while also having fun.
Located downtown in Canada's capital city, the other unique exhibits offer guests a look into the fascinating past of money that was used in various cultures throughout the world, states the museum's website. Some objects featured include I.O.U.'s scribbled on the backs of playing cards that are centuries old and coins preserved from ancient Roman times.
Canada's currency resembles the dollar and cents system in the U.S. and Australia. Each of the paper bills is a different colour, and the system also has one and two dollar coins. Travellers can learn more about Canada's currency system and other forms of money across the world by visiting the Currency Museum in Ottawa.
Travellers enjoying the sights of this vibrant city should add this great destination to their itinerary for a memorable experience at one of Ottawa's best museums.
