Canada Aviation Museum

Located east of downtown along the Ottawa River Parkway, the Canada Aviation Museum houses one of the world's finest collections of military and civilian aircraft inside its giant hangar-like walls.

Fast Facts

  • From an Aeronc C-2 to a Zenair CH-300 Tri-Z, the Museum's displayed collection of almost 50 aircraft from around the world covers the entire history of aviation.
  • A replica of the Silver Dart, the first heavier than air craft to fly in Canada, greets visitors from on high as they enter the Museum.
  • The Museum displays the nose section of an Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow - one of few remaining parts of this once-promising Canadian-built fighter jet.
  • A fabulous new exhibition, Canadian Wings: A Remarkable Century of Flight, opened in early 2009 to celebrate 100 years of aviation in Canada.
  • In spring and summer, visitors to the Museum can take flying tours of the Capital in an open cockpit Waco UPF-7 biplane circa 1939; helicopter rides are also available.
  • The Museum's Hang Glider Studio offers aviation-themed activities and crafts for kids.
  • The Aviation Museum is co-located with the Rockcliffe Airport and adjacent to the former Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Rockcliffe.
