Sunny days are sweepin’ the clouds away in Gatineau on October 27, when the Sesame Street gang will be at the Canadian Museum of Civilization for some Halloween festivities. Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, the Cookie Monster and other popular television show characters will be there to sign autographs, take photos and have a blast with visitors of all ages.
Families staying at a hotel in Ottawa are the perfect candidates for this nostalgic event, and visitors are more than welcome to come dressed in costumes, whether they want to wear a Sesame Street outfit or a something on the spooky side. Festival goers can munch on a bunch of candy or a caramel apple - perhaps even sip some warm cider - before participating in numerous Halloween-themed activities like carving pumpkins and dancing to tunes like "Thriller" and "Monster Mash."
The festivities don't stop on October 27, and those who travel to Ontario during the spooky holiday can also go to the Children's Museum from October 23 to 31 for The Bat Hunt, where they can search for the creepy creatures all over the grounds. On the 27th, the season will close out just before the special day at the Sesame Street Halloween Party - guaranteed to be quite the hullabaloo.
