The light and joy of Christmas will only last a few more days in Ottawa, so those looking to see the capital's stunning display of lights during travel to Ontario should head to the city this weekend.
The annual celebration, Christmas Lights Across Canada, will be ending on January 7, leaving last-minute travellers with just enough time to revel in the sights. The 350,000 lights illuminate the the Capital Region from 4:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. each day.
Visitors might not even have to seek out the lights specifically, since they decorate some of the most notable attractions in Ottawa. Museums, historic sites and other landmarks along Confederation Boulevard and on Parliament Hill might already be part of tours of Ottawa, and until January 7, the lights complement this experience nicely.
Christmas Lights Across Canada was launched in 1985 to brighten the holiday season and has expanded over the years to include the 13 provincial and territorial capitals, so the entire nation glows with thousands of shining Christmas lights.
