Attend some unique and brazen performances in Canada this winter

When travellers journey to new cities, they often enjoy attending some sort of cultural performance, whether it be a classic opera, Shakespearian play or a trip to a gallery full of historical paintings. However, those who journey to Quebec and Ontario in the winter have some alternative options to experience when it comes to immersing in the local art and theatre scene. There is a wealth of opportunity for funky and modern shows throughout this region that travellers may wish to check out while on their adventurous holiday.
The city of Toronto will be rocking out this December 28th through January 15th with its showcase of the American Idiot musical. According to the city's theatre website, the show is based off of music from the popular pop-punk band Green Day, bringing together ideas of rebellion and love in the newest generation of young people. This high-energy and powerful show made its debut on Broadway to a chorus of praise and will be presented at the Toronto Centre for the Arts this winter for audiences to enjoy.
A hit show that was a winner at the 2010 Fringe Festival will be gracing the stage in Montreal this February. Called Miss Sugarpuss Must Die, this cabaret-style play follows the life of dancer Miss Sugarpuss and all its dramatic twists and turns, reports the venue's website. Combining elements of exotic dance and theatrical talent, this showcase is sure to be a unique experience for adult travellers who are looking for new and fresh entertainment.
Although this event is not for all ages, it could make for a romantic evening for two or a fun activity to try on a girl's getaway trip. After the show, guests are encouraged to stick around and head to the ArtLounge next door, where Miss Sugarpuss will continue her performance and sing to an intimate audience.
If travellers do want to bring the kids to a play, they should make plans for Ottawa from November 29th through December 18th. The Great Canadian Theatre Company will be hosting an interesting spectacle that combines humour and old Shakespearian themes into one fun and lively production. Known as A Midwinter's Dream Tale, this play uses inspirations from both A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Winter's Tale to create a crazy show featuring clowns, imaginary monsters and musical numbers. Kids and adults are sure to have a memorable experience at this great production in Canada's capital city.
