When women are deciding upon the ideal city to let loose and have a great girl's getaway, they may want to consider taking tours of Ottawa. This buzzing locale offers all the latest shopping trends, entertainment options and culinary delights that can make for a memorable trip with friends. Those planning a holiday this April are particularly in luck, as the Ottawa Convention Centre will be hosting their annual National Women's Show.

On April 14th and 15th, hundreds of women will gather in Canada's capital city for this popular event, which has offered female locals and visitors fun and exciting activities for more than a decade. The themed areas designated throughout the centre run the gamut of everything from organic cuisine and advice on advancing one's career, to travel ideas and home renovations.

Alongside the vendors, attendees can enjoy some live shows and celebrity guest appearances as they peruse the retail products on display. For instance, this year "Young and the Restless" star Peter Berman will grace the stage, as will popular physic and medium Marc Jade. Besides the shows, there will also be makeover demonstrations, fashion catwalks and workshops on health and fitness.

One of the big reasons women love to go to these events is the swag bags. This conference in Ottawa is no exception, as many of the vendors will be offering free samples to those who participate. In the past, some of the companies that have given away products included Dove, Canada Bread and John Frieda salons.

Several other cities will have their own women's shows as well if travellers want to check out more destinations on their travel through Canada. Montreal's event will be held at the Palais des Congres from March 23rd through the 25th, and will feature more than 300 vendors demonstrating their expertise in fashion, beauty, wellness and more. Quebec City's convention at the Centre de Foires will not be until November, but that means travellers could experience the other spring events and then make plans for this city later in the year.
