Go back in time at a textile museum near Ottawa

Travellers will notice that there is a myriad of museums that they can visit on their tours of Ottawa, but there are also some interesting attractions to explore just outside the city limits. For instance, The Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte is an interesting place to learn about the area's history in the manufacturing industry and the role it has played in people's everyday life.
As guests enter the main building, they will first lay eyes on the massive room full of textile machines such as looms, some of which date back decades. Handicrafts like quilts, textile jewellery and historical paintings can also be viewed among the main displays.
Not only does the museum have regular exhibits and permanent collections, guests may also be interested in some of the workshops and celebrations hosted by the facility year-round. Some of the upcoming events include a charity fashion show, embroidery classes and felt-making workshops.
To round out the visit, guests should not miss a stop at the gift shop where they may purchase artisan crafts, history books and even pieces from the galleries.
