Just outside downtown Ottawa is an interesting museum that offers a look into the area's industrial history. Watson's Mill traces its origins back to the 1860s and still boasts a working grist and flour mill. Visitors are welcome to explore the complex to learn more about its significance and background, which began even before Canada was officially a country.
Built by business partners Kent Dickinson and Joseph Currier, the mill was used for flour and was operated by their families for years until it was sold in the 1940s. Those who visit can take a guided tour to learn how the equipment works and find out about the mill's history as a meeting place and an essential part of economic growth.
Watson's' Mill will open for the season on Saturday, May 5, and tickets can be purchased at the museum.
