Travellers taking tours of Ottawa who want to see some live music are in luck, as this city and the surrounding areas are full of great venues featuring talented musicians almost every night. While seeing a big name act can be a thrill, some guests may want to venture outside city limits and experience the often vibrant and exciting local atmosphere. Fortunately, this summer, several bars, nightclubs and restaurants are hosting fun shows for travellers to enjoy while on holiday in Canada's capital.
Irene's Pub is a popular watering hole for guests and locals alike, with roots dating back more than 25 years. A large bar serves up unique beers on tap and the menu offers innovative dishes. Throughout May and June there will be an array of talented acts at the venue, offering a range of musical genres to a trendy and young audience. For instance, on June 2, Lefty McRighty will perform with the Sinister Six for one night only, playing some of their old tunes and new hit singles that are sure to delight travellers who attend.
Popular in the Ottawa area, Lefty McRighty brings new life to old Western music, blending the genre with rhythms and stylizations from the 1970s and 80s. As a solo artist, Lefty often sings and plays guitar, drawing from years of experience on stage. His opening band, the Sinister Six, includes his father-in-law and several other skillful artists who also sing country and rock songs.
In the Ottawa Chinatown district there is another interesting venue that hosts fun performers and has a tasty menu. The Raw Sugar Cafe is big on sweet treats and freshly brewed hot beverages, both of which can be indulged while listening to live music. Travellers can grab a chocolatey vegan cupcake and a table at the cafe to see resident artists on stage at any time of day. On the evening of June 1, Raw Sugar will have three acts performing for patrons enjoying their night out in the city. Scheduled to perform are Jonathan Becker, The White Devils and Nick Sherman, all of which present thrilling rock vibes and soulful songs.
