A highlight of many kid's summers is a visit to the carnival. Teens and children often love to ride the ferris wheels, try their luck at various games and may shake the hand of a clown or two. Families who are taking tours of Ottawa at the end of August will have the opportunity to attend one of these travelling carnivals that is headed to Canada's capital.
The Midway Magic at the Fair, sponsored by the Central Canada Exhibition Association, will be at the Rideau Carleton Entertainment Center, a few blocks from the airport. The large fairgrounds will hold all the rides, games, shows and food vendors one can handle during a day at the carnival. This classic pastime can be ideal for groups of mixed ages.
One of the best features of Midway Magic is that guests do not have to pay admission to enjoy all the sights and sounds of this event. Travellers interested in the rides can purchase an all-day pass in advance to have unlimited access to all the various amusement attractions throughout the visit. There are various rides for all ages, including tilt-a-whirls, massive slides, the zipper and kid roller coasters. Besides those classic attractions, the event plans to release a list of performers who will provide entertainment throughout the event. Dates for Midway Magic are August 16-19 and 23-26.
Midway Magic at the Fair will be announcing more information about advanced tickets, discounts and added entertainment as the dates approach. Travellers planning their holidays can check back to the event's official website or one of its social media pages, including Twitter and Facebook.
Try out one of Ottawa's waterparks too
While in the area, parents can also bring their kids somewhere to cool off after enjoying the fair. Located 20 minutes outside of Ottawa is the Mont Cascades waterpark, which boast a wallet-friendly admission price and unlimited use of its rides, slides and aqua parks. The complex hosts summer parties as well for the older crowd with live music, contests and other activities as the sun goes down.
Due to the fun of classic carnival rides, waterparks and the excitement revolving around Ottawa summers, a day spent at the fair can be the ultimate activity for families to enjoy together on their visit.
