From now until August 19, residents and guests staying at Ottawa accommodations may want to check out the Orange Art Gallery, which will be putting on a gorgeous photography exhibition by Louis Helbig, Rob Huntley and Glenn Upton. The art show, titled From the Ground Up, features large-scale images of aerial shots that depict images of beaches, cityscapes and natural scenes.
To achieve their incredible photographs, the artists mounted cameras onto kites, planes and their own backs as they surveyed the urban and rural Canadian landscape. In his signature image, A Walk on the Beach, Huntley provides a bird's eye view into what might be a romantic stroll or perhaps a family enjoying the late afternoon sun. Because of the distant vantage point, viewers are disconnected from minute details and are presented with a perspective that people rarely get to experience.
Located at the Parkdale Market in the Wellington West neighbourhood, Orange Art Gallery is quickly making a name for itself as a great spot for contemporary Canadian art in Ottawa. The permanent exhibition includes the works of Gwendolyn Best and Kerrie Davis, whose work will be on display during the West End Studio Tour in September.
