While Planet of Sound has been a great resource for DJs, musicians and music lovers in Ottawa for several years, the store has also recently begun to play host to live events. From turntable clinics and workshops to the upcoming Jazz Appreciation Day, this audio shop is getting a lot of buzz around town.
On the last day of every month, store employees pick their favourite jazz song and play it on vinyl, treating visitors to the unfiltered and raw sounds of a musical genre that has survived for generations. The event is free and open to the public, and guests staying at hotels in Ottawa need only bring an open mind and love for all things music.
For blossoming or professional DJs who travel through Canada, workshops like the Turntable Clinic provide valuable information concerning the proper care and maintenance of this sensitive audio equipment. This month's clinic, taking place on August 18, is also open to the public, and visitors can expect to see similar events in September and October.
