Travellers who have already taken tours of Ottawa know that the capital of the Great White North is swiftly becoming a culinary hotspot, attracting people from far and wide to feast on Canadian and international fare. Thankfully, the TacoLot food outlet, one of the most popular casual eateries in the city, has ditched the tiny digs for their clientele who want to sit down and eat, opening up a sister restaurant called HANG 10 right along Gladstone Avenue. Don't worry - the original TacoLot is still intact and serving up the same delicious Mexican fare for anyone craving some rice, beans and salsa fresca.
HANG 10 embodies the laid-back, surfer dude attitude and visitors are more than welcome to wear their most casual attire at this charming and cozy restaurant. In the dead of winter, the warm tacos and freshly fried corn chips will make diners feel as though they're just across the street from a Southern California beach. The interior boasts an impressive mural with a relaxing beach scene, so diners don't even have to work too hard on imagining themselves in a warmer climate.
Similar to TacoLot, HANG 10 serves up Baja delights like pulled pork, sweet potato, spicy beef and shrimp tacos. If visitors aren't in the mood for tacos, they can order the same toppings in a tostada or a burrito as well. Diners can even order an entire platter of rice, slow-cooked beans, a fresh salad and whatever protein they choose. But what sets HANG 10 apart from its counterpart?
Jon Reilly Roe, owner of TacoLot and HANG 10, wants to make his new restaurant an eat-in establishment so diners can relax as they munch on their fresh bites, according to Ottawa Magazine. While there's certainly nothing wrong with eating and standing or taking food back to an office or Ottawa accommodations, some people may want to have a more formal dining experience. Additionally, depending on the growth of HANG 10, Reilly Roe hopes to do some catering so anyone visiting travel sites in Canada during a business trip can order some food for a large meeting.
Whatever happens, HANG 10 is open for business and eagerly awaiting visitors and residents to come on in!
