Halloween events for everyone travelling to Ottawa

Halloween eventsGhosts, ghouls, wizards, witches and, of course, mountains of candy are what make Halloween such a fantastic holiday. Zombies and fairies who travel to Ontario for the festive All Hallow's Eve should arrive prepared to see a totally different side of the capital city of Ottawa, whether visitors simply want to go trick-or-treating with the kids or are the type to go bar hopping with all of the costumed crazies.

Ready for some frightful fun? Here are a few events this weekend and the days leading up to October 31 that are sure to please visitors of all ages:

Westboro Zombie Walk
The streets of Westboro Village will be ripe with zombies on the hunt for a fresh meal of human flesh, and visitors are welcome to get dressed up and pretend they're the walking dead themselves. While travellers might think this horrifying activity is only fit for adults, kids can also join in the fray and practise their best zombie moans that can sound like anything from, "Ughhh" to "Grrrr!"

Merchants will also get into the Halloween spirit by giving out candy and decorating their storefronts. Even the Ottawa School of Speech and Drama will be there to teach youngsters and adults how to paint on the most frightening and realistic zombie makeup.

Halloween Hellbender at Irene's Pub
Adults who are ready for some seriously spooky entertainment should make their way to Irene's Pub on Saturday, October 27 for the 10th annual Halloween Hellbender. Rock 'n' roll bands GOOD2GO and The Bible All-Stars will be there to keep everyone moshing well into the early morning hours, and attendees who manage to keep their costumes in good shape get an extra pat on the back.

Spins & Needles Macabre Halloween Party
On the very day of Halloween, visitors who are in the mood for some dancing after passing out candy during the day may want to fly, crawl, shuffle - whatever their costume makes them do - to Spins & Needles for an evening of gruesome macabre fun. DJ Jason Pelletier will be there to keep the music going while costumed guests can get crafty with projects inspired by the terrifying holiday, including skeletons, zombies and other mysterious creations.
