Give a nod to Ottawa during Support Local month in November

Give a nod to Ottawa during Support Local month in NovemberFor anyone who has travelled to Ottawa, they already know how much the Canadian capital pays homage to local businesses and services. All November long, visitors can play their part even more during Support Local month, which gathers up most of the local establishments and provides residents and visitors alike with discounts and events all in the name of keeping the local scene alive.

Guests staying at an Ottawa hotel can rest assured many of this month's Support Local events are happening right around the corner from their lovely lodgings. From restaurant discounts and live musical entertainment, this month is sure to be the perfect time to travel to Ontario.

Food every day
From the first to the last day of November, restaurants across Ottawa will have discounts and specials. Visitors can get their special Support Local passport and wander through neighborhoods in search of participating eateries.

Along and nearby Bronson Avenue, visitors can get numerous passport stamps by stopping at Raw Sugar Cafe, Jak's Kitchen, Shanghai and nearly a dozen other fine establishments.

Throughout November, the restaurant town on Elgin Street downtown will offer cocktails to support local charities, and patrons can choose which signature beverage to sip - all of the proceeds will go to a good cause. Additionally, whichever charity’s cocktail sells the most will get another $100 from the restaurant, so visitors should place their vote by drinking!

Art for all
Restaurants and business establishments are playing their part in supporting the local art scene as well, and for all of November, visitors and residents can peruse the city for artwork created by people who live right in the area.

At the Daily Grind Cafe, local artist Clare Brebner's work will be on display, while Pressed Cafe will be showing silkscreen work by Diane Bond. At Mugshots, a bar within a hostel that used to be a jail, Magida El-Kassis' impressive travel photography will be on display starting on November 15.

Events not to miss
While the Support Local launch party already took place on November 1 at Raw Sugar Cafe, there are still numerous events travellers can attend during the month. This Thursday, visitors can meet Stacey Bafi-Yeboa of Workshop Boutique, whose popular design, Kania Couture, is currently on display.

Visitors can stay on the ball with all that's happening this month by going online and checking up the weekly updated schedule.
