Vintage gets bigger at Ottawa's Young Janes

Vintage gets bigger at Ottawa's Young JanesOttawa's vintage scene is popping up with chic new shops all over the Canadian capital, and with the recent expansion of Young Janes, the city shows no signs of slowing down the vintage train. According to Ottawa Magazine, the larger storefront allowed owner Mika Lemm to introduce larger vintage pieces like furniture and home decor to the shop's repertoire. With more space comes more products for guests at hotels in Ottawa to peruse and purchase.

With a blog just for the revamped store, visitors can look at apparel and accessories as they come in, getting inspired for their newest vintage look before they make their way to the Dalhousie Street location in the ByWard Market neighbourhood.

Classic vintage, new look
The great thing about vintage clothing, especially for those who travel through Canada, is that every item takes on a whole different life when in the hands of a new owner. Canada's fashion sense has always been at the forefront of the latest trends and, oddly enough, old is the new new. Travellers who are making their way to the Canadian capital for the first time will be rather impressed with what the residents are donating or selling to Young Janes, including sparkly sweaters and adorably flirty tops as well as classic pieces for gentlemen like top hats and cuffs.

Sizes and styles for all
With the new space, Lemm has been able to fill the clothing racks with outfits in practically every size, so men and women of all shapes can get their vintage fix without having to worry about squeezing into a size too small. Plus, with so many different eras of vintage to choose from - '60s pencil skirts, '70s flowers and '80s retro, to name a few - shoppers can stick to their own unique style no matter what it is.

Classing up the home
Travellers should definitely leave room in their luggage for the household items they'll find at Young Janes, which range from delicate lace tablecloths to gorgeous armoires. If there's a piece of furniture that patrons simply cannot part ways with, they can employ a moving service to get their vintage decor packed away and safely delivered to their home. Whether visitors are prepared to make a purchase or not, they should definitely have their wallets ready to nab some one-of-a-kind items.
