There's no doubt that Canadians know how to have a good time, but some of the most famous party scenes on earth are in the United States. If visitors to Ottawa are looking for a great party to ring in the year 2013, they don't have to travel all the way to New York or Miami. Canada's capital city has brought these parties right to Ottawa, offering a host of fun and festivities with which to ring in the New Year.
Going to Miami
Those looking to "party in the city where the heat is on" can live out the famous song by Will Smith right in Ottawa this New Year's Eve. No travel to the U.S. is necessary thanks to the New Year's Eve Miami event at the Westin Hotel. Organized by STARFISH creative events + inspiration, partygoers can dress up in their Miami finest and enjoy hors d'oeuvres, a dessert bar, Miami-style cocktails and dancing with DJ Ray Jay. The Westin Hotel is offering a special rate for those who want to stay at the hotel after the party.
There will also be hair and makeup services earlier in the day, a fashion show, an auction and a drawing for a trip for two to South Beach Miami. Although the theme of the evening is American, the proceeds from all of the festivities go to support Unicef Canada.
In a New York minute
It's hard to deny the fact that Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve is one of the biggest and best New Year's celebrations on the planet - even though the late Clark is no longer the host. Travel to Canada does not typically involve a stop in Times Square, but visitors can travel to Ontario for just as much outdoor New Year's fun thanks to the Sparks Street New Year's Eve celebration. With live music from the Arkells, Autumns Cannon, Tara Holoway, Chantal Hackett and others, eventgoers will have plenty of reason to dance at this countdown to 2013. Enjoy drinks from the special Bailey's bar and wait until the clock strikes twelve for a massive midnight surprise.
Once the party is over, you can crash at the Marriott Hotel Ottawa, which is offering a special package for the evening.
