Canada Agriculture Museum launches 'Chews Wisely' workshop

Efforts have been made to encourage people across the globe to focus on eating well and staying healthy. Those who are thinking about travelling to Ottawa may want to consider the "Chews Wisely" family workshop at the Canada Agriculture Museum, according to the Ottawa Citizen. This fun-filled workshop focuses on the importance of eating a healthy diet and staying active, no matter how old a person is.

The Chews Wisely workshop is a free hands-on learning experience in which people are able to take part in cooking lessons, crafts and games, heart-healthy exercise and food group activities. Those who attend will also be able to get outside and enjoy the outdoor exhibit, which should provide a refreshing way to learn. The program, which was made available by the organization Wonder+Cares, will take place on Saturday, January 19; Sunday, February 3 and Monday, February 18 (Family Day).

This event is not available for school programs, and those who want to bring a group should register for one of the days. Teachers in the area who are thinking about incorporating this museum into the curriculum can do so by opting for the various other school programs offered by the museum. The students will be able to take a hands-on approach as they make apple cider, bake bread and see how farm technology works.

Those who are interested in the Canada Agriculture Museum, but are unable to make it to the event should still stop in, as there are tons of exhibits and a variety of works to see. Visitors can check out the Energy Park: Nature at Work exhibit, which shows people that farms are not only consumers of energy, but they can also produce some. This outdoor park gives people the chance to get involved as well, as they are able to try their hand at "harvesting " energy with the museum's solar interactive.

There are also a series of indoor exhibitions including the Taking Care of Beesness, which discusses the importance of bees, as well as another exhibit that talks about the history of tractors. Travelling exhibitions are also there, so those who are thinking about going should check out what's new at the museum.
