For many travellers, drinking different beers and wines while on vacation is a must. Those who are travelling to Ottawa can mix drinking with learning, as the Kichesippi Beer Company and Savvy Company offer a Craft Beer 101 Class this Thursday, January 24. There is a lot that goes into creating the perfect craft beer, and international beer agent Paul Meek is ready to teach.
The fun evening includes a sample tasting of five to seven local brews as well as learning what goes into creating a craft beer. Visitors will learn all about the different styles of beer making, different tasting techniques and the terminology. Not to mention, they will also learn how to properly pour a beer and why the shape of a glass makes such a difference when drinking their favourite beer. There will also be a lesson on pairing beer and food, as much more goes into that than many think at first.
Those who are unable to make it this week can keep up with local listings to see when the next class will be. There is an Imported Craft Beers class on February 21, and other dates will be released down the road.
