Couples who are considering whether or not they should plan a romantic trip away should do so. Not only will it be something fun for a couple to do, but it can also benefit the relationship. According to a new survey issued by the U.S. Travel Association, couples who report that they travel together at least once a year are in much happier relationships than their counterparts who do not travel. Those who are still thinking about what to do this Valentine's Day may want to book a trip.
Those looking for a beautiful place to go should consider travelling to Ottawa. Canada's capital has a great deal to offer between its beautiful landscape and rich history. Here are four must-see attractions that are perfect for a romantic trip:
Rideau Canal. The Rideau Canal is certainly worth talking about. This expansive scenic waterway is a National Historic Site of Canada and it turns into the largest skating rink in the world in the winter, at 7.8km (4.8 miles long). In the summer, it is a beautiful place to rent bicycles or simply go for a walk alongside it.
Fairmont Château Laurier. This elegant and exquisite hotel mixes breathtaking architecture with sophistication. Even if couples don’t stay at the Fairmont Château Laurier, they should still visit the iconic building, perhaps to indulge in the romantic afternoon tea offerings. The castle-like hotel is located right next to Parliament Hill. A great number of celebrities and politicians come here to dine at their magnificent restaurants, so visitors may see a celebrity or two while also admiring the aesthetics of the unique hotel.
National Gallery of Canada. Art lovers rejoice - the National Gallery of Canada gives couples the chance to check out some of the most beautiful works of art from all over the globe. This museum is home to the world's most extensive collection of Canadian art, and it also has quite the view from behind the building, which gives visitors an amazing view of the city.
Gatineau Park. Gatineau Park is just north of Ottawa, and it has a slew of activities for the energized couple to take advantage of. Whether it is cross-country skiing in the winter or camping and hiking in the summer, this park is for those couples who just love being one with nature.
