Canadian National Arts Centre presents Northern Scene in the spring

Those who have a love for the arts and are hoping to travel to Ottawa in the near future may want to check out Canada's capital during the National Arts Centre's Northern Scene spring festival, which takes place April 25 to May 4. This event is the sixth in a series of festivals, which celebrate the best emerging artists across Canada. Approximately 250 artists, dancers, musicians, actors and filmmakers from Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Nunavik, and Nunatsiavut will flock to Ottawa to showcase and celebrate their talents. 

Music
One of the most high-profile events during the 10-day festival will be the Inuit throat singer, Tanya Tagaq performing with a screening of the famous Canadian film, "Nanook of the North." She is just one of the many people who will be performing during the event. Leela Gliday, Sylvia Cloutier, Diyet and Nive Nielson will all unite for an evening of music during the festival.

Theatre
Visitors will have plenty to choose from when it comes to the festival's theatrical performances. For instance, guests can check out the "A Taste of the Wildcat," which showcases what it is like to walk into the iconic Wildcat Cafe in Yellowknife and enjoy the many stories and experiences told over the years. Visitors with kids can go to the Rag & Bone Puppet Theatre to see "A Promise is a Promise," an inspired story about a traditional Inuit legend.

Food 
Foodies will love the festival as well, as there are a couple of events targeting the best cuisine Canada has to offer. The North-South Fusion event as well as the Taste of the Arctic offer different delicacies from across the country. 

Fashion 
Fans of fashion will be able to see what some of the best designers in Canada have created, and the best time to to catch this will be during Boundless: Fashion from Canada's North. This fashion show highlights the trend of making layers fashionable and comfortable. This event takes place April 26 at 10 p.m.

Gallery Crawl
This event, called Swarm, also takes place April 26, and lets visitors get to as many art galleries as they are able to. Participants can start their crawl on the free bus or they can walk, bike or run throughout the city to check out 145 different artists' work. 

These are not the only aspects of the event, as visitors can also enjoy the visual and media arts as well as literature, storytelling and dance elements during the festival.
