Those who are thinking about travelling to Ottawa this year may want to plan their trip around some of the exciting and fun-filled festivals that Canada's capital has to offer all year long. Whether an individual is planning a trip for the whole family or with a bunch of friends, there is a festival for everyone. Here are a few of the many events that take place every year:

Ottawa Bluesfest
The love of music is international, but those who are looking for a blues-filled event should plan a trip to Ottawa for its annual RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest. This festival is jam-packed with music, and it runs from July 4 to July 14. Travellers who aren't huge fans of blues will still find something they like, as the event showcases a wide range of musical styles. A number of amazing talents are slated to perform at this summer's show, such as Great Big Sea, Fun., Tegan and Sara, Rush, Dixie Chicks, Wu-Tang Clan, Weezer, Cold Specks and Joe Robinson, so visitors may want to get their tickets.

The Canadian Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Festival has quickly grown to be the largest tulip festival in the entire world, and this beautiful event brings about 500,000 visitors each year to admire about 1 million tulips across the city, including over 300,000 in one park alone!

Canada Day in the Capital
It should come as no surprise that celebrating Canada Day in Canada's capital is an experience unlike any other. The majority of the July 1 festivities take place on the iconic Parliament Hill, but this is certainly not the only location, as downtown Ottawa is flooded with people from all over Canada who come to celebrate their country. There are ceremonies, concerts from the best artists from across Canada and plenty of fireworks. It is surely a fantastic way to celebrate Canada.

Winterlude
It is impossible to bring up festivals in Ottawa and not talk about Winterlude in early February. This three weekend-long event is jam-packed with fun-filled outdoor activities for the whole family. This was the 35th year that the festival has taken place, and visitors were able to skate on the world's largest ice skating rink or enjoy the beautiful ice sculptures that are created each year for the annual competition. Families can bring the little ones to enjoy the largest snow playground in North America as well as a host of other family-oriented activities.
