If travellers have an interest in the process of creating money, they should make plans to visit the Canadian Mint on their next holiday to Ottawa. This massive facility is a hub of activity, as it works to manufacture much of the nation's circulated and collectible currency, according to the organization's website. Despite it's often hectic schedule, however, guests are encouraged to stop by for guided tours year-round.
Since the early 1900s, the Canadian Mint in Ottawa has been producing coins and bills for the country, using various materials and styles over the years. In 2007, the facility put itself on the map internationally by created the world's biggest coin, amounting to 100 kilograms of pure gold.
Guests of the Mint can see various displays of some unique, rare and unusual coins on display, or catch a glimpse of the production rooms to see what goes into making currency.
Some of the exhibits show coins that have won awards to their incredible designs. For example, guests to the Canadian Mint may see coinage that has a holographic maple leaf decoration.
Travellers wishing to check out a fun attraction in Ottawa should not miss an adventure at the city's branch of the Canadian Mint.
