For a unique attraction to experience while visiting the Ottawa area, travellers may want to consider checking out the interesting and eerie Lusk Caves located in Gatineau Park. This year-round complex encourages adventurous guests to explore the marble caverns on a self-guided tour with signs in French and English, says the Bonjour Quebec website. This may make for a fun and thrilling excursion to experience while enjoying Canada’s capital city this fall.
Open for free to the public, the Lusk Caves can be seen by renting some spelunking gear or bringing one’s own helmet, rubber boots and flashlight to the attraction. After peering though the dark caves, travellers can learn about the historical significance of this spot by reading the informative panels that line the 10 kilometre walk back to the park’s entrance and parking area.
Travellers who take on the caves need to be prepared to get a little dirty. Ottawa Outdoors Magazine says that the passageways are often narrow, which naturally kicks up dust and perhaps a little mud from the underground stream.
