Some may think the art of puppetry is now a thing of the past, but this beautiful and classic creative form is alive and well in several theatre productions in Ottawa. Travelers who wish to witness this type of drama, especially those with children, may want to book tickets during their tour of Canada to the "A Promise is a Promise" play this October, hosted by the Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre.
Using themes from the native culture of the Inuit people, who populated much of this region and lived off the snowy land, the play will illustrate the life of Allashua, a girl who lived in this historical times. The production is based on a favourite Canadian children’s book.
The venue where this show will take place is the Shenkman Arts Centre, which is only a few minutes outside the city center to the west, states the organization’s website. Visitors who speak both French and English can enjoy this performance and many others, as this venue is the only bi-lingual performance center in the city.
Travellers who visit Canada’s capital city looking for some theatrical showcases will not be disappointed, for this buzzing cultural hub has much to offer all its residents and guests to the area.
