When it's time for a chuckle on holiday in Canada's capital city, there is a wealth of opportunities to choose from for an exciting night out. Many famous comedians have come to Ottawa to perform for international audiences and will surely delight visitors who are up for a laugh while on a getaway trip.
If travellers prefer to see a big name in comedy, they may make plans to head to Canada's National Arts Centre this February 12th. Notorious comedian Jeff Ross will be taking the stage for one night only in Ottawa, while he specialises in teasing and taunting audience members. Ross learned his craft by appearing on several television specials, including roasts that featured celebrities such as Donald Trump and Pamela Anderson. Although this night of comedy may not be for everyone, guests with an open mind and a willingness to laugh at themselves will have a great time.
For a more intimate show, guests in Ottawa can attend a comedic performance at Yuk Yuk's Stand-Up Comedy Club, which boasts a small setting with big humour. On February 23rd though the 25th, Paul Myrehaug will perform some shows at the venue. He has been featured in several Canadian Comedic events, including the Vancouver Comedy Festival and the Just For Laughs festival.
Tickets are on sale though the venue's website, and guests have two locations in town to choose from - one on Elgin Street and the other on Preston Street. This means that tourists have a few options when it comes to attending a comedy show. The downtown facility often showcases edgier comedians, while the Prescott location is typically more clever and witty.
Another fun place to see some live jokes and jesting in Ottawa is Absolutely Comedy. Nathan Macintosh will be headlining shows at this location from February 21st to the 26th. From film appearances to radio shows, Macintosh has a big, funny presence in the country and his performance will be a wonderful tribute to comedy and the Canadian spirit.
No matter when travellers visit Canada's capital city, there will almost always be some sort of comedic relief happening in town. Paired with all the culinary delights, attractions and stylish accommodation options, a holiday in Ottawa can be a great experience for a romantic getaway or a fun trip with friends.
