If travellers already are fans of running, they may want to participate in a special race that will raise awareness and funds for a great cause. Ottawa will host the 27th annual Minto Run for Reach this April 15th, and encourages visitors and locals alike to participate. This may be a great event to incorporate into tours of Ottawa as a way to check out the town while supporting health and wellness
The race is sponsored by Reach Canada, a nonprofit organisation that aims to legally assist special needs and disabled clients. For more than 30 years, this initiative has been offering legal consultation at no cost to better the lives of those suffering from various ailments, such as chronic pain, environmental sensitivities and learning disabilities. These lawyers can help with a variety of issues, including immigration, family business and personal injury.
In order to finance these programs, the Reach Canada organisation puts on different events throughout the year for the public to enjoy. The Minto Run is one of these classic celebrations of Ottawa and one of its many initiatives.
Travellers interested in the competition can go to the Reach Canada website and find a link to the Running Room to sign up and obtain more information. Individuals, families, young people and those with disabilities can all partake in the different races provided. There will be a wheelchair event, youth run and an official half-marathon contest as well.
Interested individuals who sign up can simply pay the registration fee or go a step further by fundraising for the event. Some of the top volunteers who collect the most money will receive prizes, such as gift cards to Tim Horton's, water bottles and digital picture frames. A lucky few will be invited to have dinner at the Arrow and Loon Pasta Dinner the night before the race, which may be a great way to mingle with other runners and sample some local cuisine.
Participating in a charity run in the community one travels to can be a wonderful way to experience a new locale while giving back. Travellers can also indulge in the culinary delights and entertainment options throughout Ottawa guilt-free when they decide to incorporate fitness into their holiday itinerary.
