Take home some local pottery in Ottawa this spring

Searching for the perfect souvenir to take home after a great holiday can be a fun adventure in a new city. Travellers who will be heading to Ottawa this spring will have a unique chance to see many different works of art that have been created under one roof by local artists, which could make for an ideal way to find some fun items to take home for yourself or loved ones.
Hosted by the Ottawa Guild of Potters, a massive pottery sale will run from April 12th though the 15th at the Shenkman Arts Centre. Potters and ceramists who hail from the region will bring their best pieces to put on display and many works will also be available to take home. Roughly 40 different artists will be participating, many of whom will be excited to share their experiences and stories about their chosen craft. Individual ceramists will range from local students learning the trade to some who have been creating pieces for decades.
John Ikeda will be the official Juror for the exhibition, keeping the sale and displays in order and in perfect condition for spectators. Many of the pieces are one-of-a-kind and will only be offered at this event, so travellers can be assured that they will have some unusual and exclusive bowls, statues, vases and more to take with them when they return home.
Not only are the ceramics on sale for a profit, but many are being auctioned and sold for a charitable cause as well. Some of the proceeds from the event will go to Harvest House. This organisation helps rehabilitate men who have suffered from addiction and hardship by providing counselling, accommodations and other assistance.
Experts and artists also attend this event to see local talent display their wares. For instance, last year Judy Deegan, the president of the Canadian Ceramic Circle said, "I thought the quality of the work was outstanding," which shows the tone of the event is professional and fascinating.
If travellers are interested in participating in the Pottery Sale and Exposition, they need only show up on the days of the convention, as this four-day show is free and open to the public.
