The Velvet Room, a popular nightspot in Canada's capital city, has a reputation for delighting guests with its eclectic dinner theatre. With a rotating schedule of productions, travellers who visit the venue are sure to catch a great show. However, those taking tours of Ottawa this May can head to The Velvet Room to see a mysterious and modern show called "The Curse of the Pekinese Peregrine."
Written by Dan Lalande, Noel Counsil and Riley Stewart, this play will incorporate all the great drama of dinner theatre, which allows the audience to participate and play alongside the professional actors. This particular murder-mystery asks guests to help solve the case alongside Eddie May, who seems to often fall into tricky situations that leave him no choice but to find a solution lest he end up the accused.
During the show, May finds out that a special and cursed artifact is missing and must be uncovered before officials from the Royal Ontario Museum discover that it's vanished. In the wake of the theft, several individuals meet an untimely end, including May's detective partner. Before the private eye is thrown in jail, May must get help from the audience to put together the clues that will lead him to the perpetrator and bring the culprit to justice.
The Velvet Room is the ideal spot for a eerie murder mystery. Draped in swanky decor and a dark colour palette, guests are welcome to sit back, relax and enjoy the show. To complete the dinner theatre adventure, the venue offers homemade cuisine, served in three courses throughout the performance. There is a full bar as well with a wide selection of beer, wine, spirits and special cocktails.
Through June 25, travellers in Ottawa can experience this performance at the Velvet Room and purchase tickets through the venue's website. Individuals age 25 and over are permitted at the club, which is located above the popular Fat Tuesdays bar frequented by guests and locals alike after the show.
Since this is the city's only dinner theatre attraction, making plans for a show at The Velvet Room can be a unique experience in this vibrant and fun metropolis.
