Indie movies and music are well-known for their sensitive approach and the raw emotion they evoke from fans. However, travellers in Ottawa this May and June can also check out an indie play called Circle Mirror Transformation at the Great Canadian Theatre Company for a fun night out in the city.
Set in a small Vermont town, four adult community theatre students and their teacher go through a six-week journey to learn about each other and interact with their strong personalities in the limelight. Each individual is portrayed in a new way as they learn from each other as each passing week goes by. Its initial introduction as an off-Broadway show was a big hit in 2009.
Publications from The New York Times to the Los Angeles Times have given the production rave reviews in the past for its quirkiness and ability to connect with the audience.
Los Angeles Times blogger Charles McNulty writes, "'Circle Mirror Transformation' is a small play, but because it’s so genuinely alive, its stature ultimately seems larger than works with more ambitious subject matter.
A savoury dinner paired with a phenomenal show can perfectly complement tours of Ottawa and a great holiday in this vibrant city.
