Hockey tournaments are a classic pastime in Canada's capital, but the KidSport organization will be hosting a competition with a twist this May. The 20th annual MOTH Adult Hockey Tournament follows many of the same rules as the traditional game, but in a non-contact environment.
Travellers taking tours of Ottawa can head to the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre or the Sandy Hill Arena to catch some of these thrilling games, which involve teams representing Toronto, Montreal and, of course, Ottawa. Men and women sign up to participate and battle it out in friendly games for first place. Pre- and post-game parties will occur throughout the city, including at the Local Heroes Bar and Grill where all are welcome to attend.
Each team raises funds to help support the KidSport organization, which encourages fitness activities and plans sporting events for low-income families in the area.
This hockey tournament will delight travellers who love the sport and want to see something new on their holiday in Canada's capital.
