A popular and memorable event is coming to Canada's capital this summer that will delight audience members from the area and beyond. Mosaika is the newest version of the Parliament Hill Light and Sound Show, which tells the history of this vibrant country through music, video, lighting and more .

Experts have worked on perfecting the presentation of moving projections and music that illuminates the Parliament building. Each section of the 30-minute event offers a look into the world of Canada's past and present through interesting special effects, such as making the windows and doors look like they're moving on a massive 143-metre screen.

Sound and light shows are a tradition in Ottawa that have been going strong since 1967, when the city decided to hold a special celebration of the region's history with a unique performance that told the stories of historical figures and the capital's role in Canada's past. The show was in honour of the country's 100th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation.

Last year, the modern Mosaika show received several accolades for its presentation. It won four International Festivals & Events Association awards, including Best Event Website, Bets Promotional Poster and Best Event Photograph. For 2012, Mosaika will be adding updated content and enhancing its finale to make this show even more memorable.

More than 245,000 people saw the Mosaika Light and Sound Show last year, and this year aims to draw even more spectators with added performance times in June. This is a first for Mosaika, as the display usually does not occur until July, so travellers who are visiting throughout the summer will have a greater opportunity to be a part of this fantastic occasion.

Event coordinators advise those who want to see the show to check the weather conditions, as some performances may be postponed or cancelled due to rain and adverse weather. The best viewing spots are right in front of Parliament Hill, and guests can bring their lawn chairs or blankets to sit back and relax.

All are welcome to see this free, bilingual event at 10 p.m. on six dates in June, and every night starting July 6 through September 3.
