Lovers of fast cars will flock to Ottawa this summer for a special automobile event featuring a classic Italian brand. The annual Ferrari Festival will take place June 15-17 and encourages all fans to attend its three days of fast fun and car-themed activities.
The Ottawa chapter of the Ferrari Club of America has been an active organization for years, gathering to share their enthusiasm for Italian sports cars and show off their own rides. Members have hosted this festival for the past seven years and the event has been well received by locals and travellers alike.
Although there will be some members-only festivities, many of the planned events will be open to the public. For instance, the festival kicks off with a traditional car show, where Ferrari owners display vehicles that range from current models to vintage rides. Travellers can also buy tickets to the benefit gala, take a ride in some of the cars or watch the Ferraris roll by in the massive parade.
Most of the festivities will take place along Preston Street, the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy. Proceeds for the festivities will benefit the local Villa Marconi Long Term Health Care Centre, which assists senior citizens by providing housing, wellness programs and more. The Ferrari Festival will take place during the Italian Week celebration that presents parades, dance demonstrations, cooking presentations, music and family friendly activities.
While in the Little Italy neighbourhood taking tours of Ottawa, travellers have the chance to explore other parts of this area, which boasts a rich culture and wonderful things to do. There are many restaurants where guests can enjoy a tasty meal, including il Piccolino Ristorante, which boasts classic menu items such as sauteed calamari and homemade gnocchi.
Night owls can sip on a cappuccino with some Frangelico at the Pasticceria Gelateria Italaina on Preston Street. This establishment is known to be a fun evening spot for those heading out of the nearby clubs looking for a nightcap.
Venturing to Canada's capital this June can be a great way to spend a holiday, especially with a visit to the Ferrari Festival and exploring the city's Italian neighbourhood.
