On September 16, people who travel to Ontario with a penchant for farming and organic produce should make their way to Feast of Fields at the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa.
Now in its 12th consecutive year, this delicious event attracts more than 500 locals and visitors to mingle with some of the Ottawa region’s top chefs as they concoct mouthwatering bites with delicious organic produce. Vegetarians will be in culinary heaven as they munch on crostini, watermelon salad and butternut squash soup made from ingredients grown right around the corner.
During the four-hour event, visitors can rest assured their impact on the environment will be minimal, as festival organizers are coming up with new ways to recycle, compost and lower the Feast's carbon footprint every year.
Because most of the event's vendors are located within 100 miles of the Central Experimental Farm, their products are a prime example of what Ottawa has to offer from Ontario's rich soils, including berries, apples, and countless varieties of vegetables.
