Canadian Museum of Nature hosts Nature Nocturne

Canadian Museum of Nature hosts Nature NocturneThose who are planning a trip to Ottawa may want to schedule it between the last weekend of the month in February and April or any time from September to November. During these times, the Canadian Museum of Nature will be hosting the Nature Nocturne, an event that incorporates food, drinks, art, science, history and even a little bit of dancing, the Ottawa Citizen Reports. Those who are planning a trip to Ottawa may want to schedule it to coincide with the last Friday of March, April, September, October or November. Why? On those dates, the Canadian Museum of Nature will be hosting Nature Nocturne, an event that incorporates food, drinks, art, science, history and even a little bit of dancing, the Ottawa Citizen reports.

The museum is hoping to get rid of any preconceived notion that ladies and gentlemen can only enjoy the building's exquisite works during the day. Targeting young professionals, the museum will open its doors for a new after-hours program in hopes of attracting the cocktail-drinking and artsy crowd under 35 years old, the media outlet reports.

The event personnel imagine the evenings will be full of young professionals, who will get the opportunity to browse the museum in a way they haven't be able to before - with a drink in hand and pop-up carts full of trendy food. Not to mention, there will also be a DJ, playing tunes into the late evening. To make it thought-provoking enough for an artsy crowd, the museum will showcase a different element each month - ranging from a digital installation to yarn art. Also, guests can make their way to the tarantulas in the VIP lounge, where they can enjoy some cocktails next to these creepy critters.

According to the news source, the intention for this new program is for the museum to draw in an entirely different crowd than it usually does. Its visitor base traditionally includes children and families, but the museum organizers want to take the young adults who are usually at the bars on a Friday night and bring them into their museum. A major renovation was completed in 2010, and this is the next step for redesigning the space to make it friendly for every age group, and it certainly could turn into a new spot for young adults and travellers to Ottawa.

The event kicks off on January 25, but those who are unable to make that date can still check it out on the last Friday of the upcoming months. One thing's for sure, young professionals and travellers will likely not experience anything quite like it at a museum in their area, making it worth the trip.
