As soon as the weather warms up around Canada's capital city, everyone starts looking for a way to cool down. A classic summertime activity to enjoy with the whole family is heading to the waterpark for a day of wet and wild fun. Fortunately, those taking tours of Ottawa will have no problem finding a great park filled with attractions, rides and more. This June, two big waterparks open their doors for the season in the Ottawa area that travellers can check out on their holidays
Calypso - Canada's largest theme waterpark
The massive Calypso facility welcomes guests of all ages to ride the waves and spend some time at a premier amusement centre. Patrons can visit starting June 7th seven days a week. As one of the country's newest and largest waterparks, Calypso spreads out across hundreds of acres and has great features, including a giant wave pool, white water rafting ride, lazy river and toboggan water slides.
Not only are the rides and slides a thrill, the park also has several events and shows throughout the season. The park hosts frequent beach volleyball tournaments, as well as the opportunity to participate in water-themed contests. In the past, big acts like the Backstreet Boys have hit the stage at Calypso, and this year is sure to bring more popular music for travellers to delight in on their visit.
A unique feature found at Calypso is its fingertip payment method. Since cash and credit cards can get damaged or lost in a waterpark, patrons can deposit funds into a special account that they can access at the restaurants and shops with their digital fingerprint.1
Mont Cascades' - A centre for cool summer fun
The Mont Cascades waterpark is another great option when looking to indulge in some cooling off time this summer. Located in the town of Cantley, a few miles north of Gatineau, Québec, this exciting centre offers guests plenty of ways to get wet, whether they are searching for a thrill or want to simply relax in the sun.
Families can play together in the all-ages Splash Forest, while adults test their bravery on Black Magic, a slide that is completely in the dark. The park officially opens on June 9, and tickets can be bought online through the Mont Cascades website.
