Visitors taking tours of Ottawa this summer can check out all the exciting events happening at Scotiabank Place, one of the city's premier venues for shows, concerts and sporting events. For instance, Cirque du Soleil will be coming to the area on July 24 and 25, presenting Michael Jackson's Immortal World Tour for two shows only. This performance has received rave reviews across the globe and is sure to delight fans in Canada's capital city.
Michael Jackson was one of the most recognizable pop music icons in history. His popularity spanned decades, and even though he passed away in 2009, millions still enjoy his hit singles like "Thriller," "Man in the Mirror" and "Smooth Criminal." Jackson also appeared in countless music videos, concert tours and movies that helped make him visible internationally and turn him into a living legend. For his music, Jackson received several accolades, including more than a dozen Grammy awards and 26 American Music Awards. His catalogue of 10 solo albums sold more than 750 million copies worldwide, with millions more sold while he was part of the Jackson 5 with his brothers.
The acrobatic troupe Cirque du Soleil created a unique show based on the King of Pop's music, and much of the idea for the concert series has been inspired by the "This Is It" event that was planned as Jackson's final tour in 2009. This new concert will feature circus-themed elements of dance, high wire acts, trapeze and even clowning. Appropriate for all ages, the show promises to hold true some of the artist's most important messages he tried to convey through his music, including peace, unity and love.
Due to its popularity, travellers may want to make plans to purchase tickets well in advance and be a part of this spectacular show. Guests in Ontario who delight in Cirque du Soleil shows can also check out some of the other performances throughout the province, including "AmaLuna" in Toronto this fall and "Dralion" in London this May.
