Farmer's markets are wonderfully fresh and tasty in Ottawa
Ottawa Travel Guide | Monday, 19 September 2011 16:31
Although the weather is quickly changing, travellers who visit Ottawa this fall still have plenty of time to check out the city's farmer's markets for some incredibly fresh produce. There are several to choose from, all offering delicious items to enjoy on the spot or take home for later.
The title of "largest farmer's market in eastern Ontario" belongs to the Carp, which can be a great addition to tours of Ottawa, states the group's website. Located just outside the nation's capital, this bazaar offers a giant selection fo fruits, vegetables and more, including cucumbers, garlic, broccoli and pears. Guests may wander through the aisles of vendors to compare prices and select their favorite foods. The market is open every Saturday through October.
Inside the city is another marketplace that also boasts a wide range of organic, fresh and delicious items that travellers of all ages will love. According to the organization's website, the Ottawa Farmer's market specializes in leafy greens and juicy fruits that are available until December. Patrons can also pick up cupcakes, eggs, or flowers on Sundays in Lansdowne Park.
Both markets are wonderful places for tourists to experience the fun and friendly feel of this great Canadian city while on holiday.
