Attend an interesting and new festival in Ottawa this fall
Ottawa Travel Guide | Wednesday, 21 September 2011 17:02
There is a new kind of festival happening downtown that is debuting this November. Travellers who think nothing is better than a perfect cup of tea should consider checking out the Ottawa Tea Festival, which is the brainchild of famed tea connoisseur Kimiko Uriu, states the event’s website.
Tea is much more than leave brewed in hot water. For thousands of years, tea has been respected and enjoyed by millions all over the world, with each region boasting their own varied traditions and tastes surrounding their teas.
Travelers who wish to partake in this exciting spectacle can book tickets for access to samplings of dozens of international teas. Guests can also take workshops to learn about the art of the tea ceremony, or attend a performance of Indian dance that centered around drinking and the brewing process.
According to her online biography, Uriu has studied the art of tea making throughout China, Japan and other Asian countries. Travelers who wish to witness her talents should participate in this innovative and exciting event that demonstrates the modern side of tea.
