War and MedicineAt the Canadian War Museum
May 26 through November 13, Ottawa’s Canadian War Museum presents a powerful exhibition that explores the uneasy and evolving relationship between warfare and the medical profession over 150 years. War inflicts terrible physical and mental injuries, leaving medical practitioners trying to save lives, manage disease and rehabilitate the wounded. War & Medicine examines the conflicting and personal roles of soldiers and doctors from the Crimean War through contemporary Afghanistan, with hundreds of powerful artifacts and images.
The exhibition was created by the Wellcome Collection, London, U.K. and the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum, Dresden, Germany. Note the exhibition does include material and subject matter that some visitors may find disturbing. Admission to the exhibition is included with some Ottawa Getaway Packages and tickets are available when you book hotel only.
