Extreme Mammals At the Canadian Museum of Nature
Re-opened last year with great new galleries, the Canadian Museum of Nature this summer features Extreme Mammals: The Biggest, Smallest, and Most Amazing Mammals of All Time, organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York. This special exhibition features impressive specimens, spectacular models, and even a reconstruction of an amazing 2007 fossil find in Canada's High Arctic. This is the first time that this exhibition appears in Canada. Along with amazing specimens and models, the exhibition features interactive animations and hands-on activities.
Creatures range from huge to tiny, and from speedy to sloth-like, including Indricotherium, the largest land mammal that ever lived, an entire skeleton of the giant hoofed plant-eater Uintatherium, with its dagger-like teeth and multiple horns, a model of the bizarre-looking "walking whale", and one of the oldest fossilized bats ever found. Admission to the Musuem is included with some Ottawa Getaway Packages and tickets are available when you book hotel only here on this website.
